Lola. Oh Lola. 13 pounds of slick fur and beagle markings on a tiny coffee table shaped dachshund body. The creature who made me feel like a (worried) mom long before I expelled two humans from my body. I used to stare at her pictures on my phone on the train home from work, and delight in the upcoming love fest that awaited me two stops away. My husband and I used to cut dates short so we could go home and be with her. She was the focus of our adoration and devotion. We were obsessed with her.
